Frequently Asked Questions

Reports, including invoices, are generated in Open Document Format, which can be opened in numerous spreadsheet applications, as outlined here: http://opendocumentfellowship.com/applications.  The spreadsheet application we recommend you use is the free NeoOffice suite, which is available at http://www.neooffice.org.  Before you can view a generated report, you will need to install NeoOffice or another Open Document Format capable spreadsheet application on your computer.

OS X Leopard (10.5) includes enhancements to the iCal application programming interface which make it possible to have a clean integration between ChronosX and iCal.  In our opinion, Leopard is an excellent upgrade at a very reasonable price, and we would encourage you to upgrade for many reasons, one of which, of course, is so that you will be able to use ChronosX.

Yes!  As of version 1.2 of ChronosX, you can have ChronosX automatically switch task names whenever you switch active windows.  To use this feature, select "Current Task" from the ChronosX menu, then select "Use Active Window As Current Task Name", then click Save.

ChronosX attempts to use the current application's name and the current document's name to automatically construct the task name.  Unfortunately, some applications don't expose this information, so this doesn't work 100% of the time.  If you have an application where the feature is not working, let us know, and we'll do our best to get it working for you!

Because ChronosX is fully integrated with iCal, you can edit your tasks directly in iCal.  As long as you use the same calendar in iCal which ChronosX is recording tasks to, the changes you make in iCal will be instantly included in ChronosX.
